Plots from Fennovoima business area now available for lease

The plots in the Fennovoima business area on the Hanhikivi peninsula are now available among the plots for sale in Pyhäjoki. The area has been designed for companies serving the Hanhikivi 1 project or its contractors.

Several plots reserved for business operations are available in Pyhäjoki. One of the reasons why companies are attracted to the area is the Hanhikivi 1 project and the opportunities it provides.

Companies can establish their base in one of the business areas of the municipality of Pyhäjoki or on the Hanhikivi peninsula, for example. The Fennovoima business area to be constructed along Hanhikiventie will be located two kilometers from the construction site and one kilometer from highway 8.

The area has been designed especially for companies serving the Hanhikivi 1 project and its contractors.

“The area will house companies that want to be close to the large construction site, but the specific companies to be located in the area have not been chosen in advance,” says  Karri Huusko, the business area contact person and Development Manager in Owner's Scope Unit in Fennovoima.

The area is around 37 hectares in size. The permitted building volume of the plots, for which there is already a land use plan, is around 137,000 square meters.

“You cannot get any closer to the construction site than this. All the necessary water, plumbing, and electrical connections are already available in the area. The construction sites will be ready for the tenants to use once the leases have been signed.”

Minimum lease period: until the end of the construction phase of the nuclear power plant

The area is expected to attract industrial, warehouse, and service businesses. One of the plots has been reserved for service buildings, meaning that a grocery store can be built there.

“The permitted building volume of this plot is some 10,000 square meters, which is roughly the size of a regular supermarket.”

“You cannot get any closer to the construction site than this."

The land use plan consists of 15 plots, but the larger ones can be divided into several smaller ones if the reservations and leases so require. Huusko points out that the sooner you lease a plot, the more you can participate in the plot’s design and the better location you will be able to choose.

The plan is to lease the plots to companies for long periods of time, at least for the duration of the construction phase of the Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant.

“The typical lease is for six to ten years, but negotiations on even longer ones are ongoing.”
