What kind of businesses are needed in Pyhäjoki?

The Hanhikivi 1 construction site further boosts the business activities in Pyhäjoki. According to Toni Kippola, chairperson of the local entrepreneur association Pyhäjoen Yrittäjät, there are good opportunities for new entrepreneurs.

What kind of businesses are there in Pyhäjoki at present?

The range of businesses in Pyhäjoki is broad; the area’s business activities are not dependent on a few industries. We have several traditional metalworking shops and special expertise in the metal industry. There are several construction industry companies and an extensive range of service industry companies. Agriculture and forestry are also well represented in Pyhäjoki.

What kinds of businesses are still required?

The COVID-19 situation makes planning for the future challenging. In any case, the Hanhikivi 1 project will require businesses from several fields. The first that come to mind are construction, welding, and machinery repairs, but I’m sure there are excellent opportunities for new companies also in the service industry.

"Some of our member companies are currently working in the Hanhikivi 1 project."

Pyhäjoki can offer excellent services for new entrepreneurs. For example, services for new businesses are available through Raahen seudun kehitys. If you join Pyhäjoen Yrittäjät, you will be able to form networks and attend our regular events.

How can the Hanhikivi 1 project be seen in the activity of the entrepreneur association?

Some of our member companies are currently working in the Hanhikivi 1 project. The association actively monitors the progress of the project and shares information through a variety of communication channels. Fennovoima and RAOS Project have graciously invited us to their events to keep us up to date.

What are the most important duties of Pyhäjoen Yrittäjät?

We promote entrepreneurship and bring news from the nation-wide entrepreneur association to the local entrepreneurs.

We inform our members of events and influence local activities. Twice a year, the association’s executive committee meets with local government officials. The meetings are an excellent way of keeping entrepreneurs informed of the municipality’s plans and informing the local government officials of the entrepreneurs’ thoughts.

What is the best way of promoting cooperation between local businesses?

If every company in the region uses local services, everybody will benefit. We also do a lot of work together. It’s wonderful to see that when partnered up with the right parties, companies are able to come up with new ideas.
